Reebok

Reebok’s history goes back to the year 1890, when Joseph William Foster came up with the brainwave of making spiked running shoes in the town of Holcombe Brook (6 miles from Bolton if you wondered). The name Reebok didn’t actually come about until 1958, when Joseph’s grandson Joe was browsing a dictionary he’d won in a race. A rhebok is a grey antelope type thing, but as the dictionary was South African, they used the Afrikaan spelling of Reebok. Stretching far beyond Bolton’s satellite towns, Reebok are now one of the biggest trainer brands going, but luckily for us they still make some of the classics that made them such a respected name.
